BUILT INONE ROOM, BY ONE PERSON.

No office, no team, no funding. Just a laptop, a lot of late nights, and a refusal to quit.

How Keystone started

Keystone Web Co. wasn't built in a startup incubator or a shared office with a ping pong table. It was built in a bedroom, on a single laptop, by a young man named Maceo Irick III. There was no team, no investors, and no roadmap handed down from anywhere — just an idea that small businesses deserved a website partner that actually cared about the outcome, not just the invoice.

Maceo taught himself to design and code the entire platform from scratch — the homepage, the standalone domain and hosting pages, the care plan tiers, and the checkout flow. None of it existed before he sat down and started building. What you're looking at is the direct result of several weeks of trial, error, and a lot of coffee.

"I didn't have a team to lean on or a company backing me. If something broke, I was the only one who could fix it. So I fixed it — over and over — until it finally held together."

The difficulties nobody sees

Building something like this alone means every problem lands on one desk. Bugs that would normally get handed to a specialist had to be untangled solo, at midnight, with nothing but documentation and persistence. Design decisions, pricing logic, the checkout experience, even the wording on every button — all of it went through one person, one draft at a time, in the same small room, night after night.

There were stretches where nothing worked right — pages that broke on mobile, pricing math that didn't add up, styling that looked perfect on one screen and fell apart on another. Every one of those problems got solved the same way: by staying at the desk a little longer and trying again.

Where things stand now

Keystone Web Co. has now been up and running for a few weeks. It's still small — still one person answering every email, still one person keeping an eye on every client's site — but it's live, it's real, and it's already helping small businesses get online without needing to hire a developer or learn a dashboard.

That scrappy, one-room origin is exactly why Keystone treats every client's site like it matters: because for a long time, this was the only site that mattered.

WEEK 1

The idea takes shape

Maceo starts sketching what a small-business-first web company could look like — and starts teaching himself the tools to build it.

WEEKS 2–4

Heads-down building

The homepage, pricing tiers, standalone domain and hosting pages, and checkout flow all get coded from the ground up, alone, in his room.

WEEKS 5–6

Breaking and fixing it, repeatedly

Bugs, redesigns, and late-night debugging sessions shape the platform into something that actually holds up.

NOW

Open and running

Keystone Web Co. is live, onboarding real small businesses — one domain, one hosting account, one care plan at a time.

THE FOUNDER PROMISE

I answer every email myself. I look at every site myself. If something I built for you breaks, I fix it — and if Keystone ever isn't right for you, I'll say so and point you somewhere better. That's the whole deal.
